Memphis Redbirds
St. Louis Cardinals fans will want to visit their Tennessee affiliate. The Memphis Redbirds are a Triple-A minor baseball league that plays in downtown's AutoZone Park. Since forming in 1998, the Redbirds have won two league titles, two conference titles and three division titles. Be sure to stay after the sports action for a fireworks display.

Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park
Enjoy some fresh air and outdoor recreation when you hike part or all of the 20 miles of hiking trails meandering through Meeman-Shelby Forest State Park. Bike along the 5-mile paved Bicycle Trail, which doubles as a handicap accessible trail. Enjoy a relatively easy, scenic walk through the Pioneer Springs Trail and Woodland Trail, or challenge yourself on the wooded Chickasaw Bluff Trail. Horses and hikers are both welcome on the looping, 8-mile Horse Trail.

Shelby Farms Greenline
Built on a former railroad, the 7-mile long Shelby Farms Greenline is part of the Mid-South's latest development in urban parks and trails. This paved greenline serves as a walking, jogging and biking recreational trail. Gardens and greenscaping are scattered along the walkway, providing beautiful scenery in the urban community.

Wolf River Conservancy
Although the Wolf River Conservancy is continuing to develop the greenway, parts of the Wolf River Greenway are already open to the public. Located along the gorgeous Wolf River floodplain, this greenway winds its way through the undisturbed forest and along the largely unspoiled river.

Mud Island River Park
Mud Island River Park offers plenty of recreation on land and on the water. Walk along the distinctive Riverwalk model until you reach the "Gulf of Mexico," where you can rent a pedal boat and float in the one-acre of water. Feeling more adventurous? Ghost River
Go on a water recreation adventure with Ghost River Canoe and Kayak Rentals. Follow the well-marked canoe trail in the Wolf River. This 8.5-mile trail includes many turns, beautiful cypress, wildlife sightings, a trip through Spirit Lake and the mystic Ghost Section. Located about half an hour outside of Memphis, this part of the river is great for more experienced paddlers but not recommended for beginners.

Peabody Park
Beat the summer heat at Peabody Park's splash park - this park offers a new kind of water recreation. While not deep enough to swim in, the "spray ground" section of the playground is a great place to cool down, especially for children.
